For the Coventry Herbert Museum and Gallery's 2023 Summer exhibition Work on Walls, my Window Artist partner Anna and I put together a design that was very personal, exploring the loss of both our mothers to neurodegenerative diseases. At the centre of the design was a sparrow (a symbol of the home, good luck on a passage, messengers and femininity) caught up in strings that carried charms and interlaced other objects that related to the themes of ritual, states of existence and disembodiment.
The mural was only up for a few months so I have drawn this sparrow to remind myself of the work we did.
